Acts of kindness and helping others can have a positive impact on our mental health. In fact, helping others has been shown to activate the rewards area of our brains and can reduce stress. It provides a sense of purpose and belonging and can improve our perspective on life. It also gives us a feeling of accomplishment, and we feed off that thankful energy. Now, there are a lot of ways that you can do this, especially with the holidays coming up. You can start a food or a coat drive at work or with friends, donate time in an organization. It could be a food bank or maybe a the community. Now, the great thing is the more often we do this, the longer the positive effects will last. So get out there, donate some time, start feeling better, and just remember, no matter what you're going through, you're not alone.
